University of Limpopo Online Application 2022/2023

From 1 April to 30 November 2021, the University of Limpopo (UL) is accepting online applications for the year 2022.

As a result, UL encourages interested students to apply as soon as possible for the 2022 academic year via the online application form (Hard-Copy).

Every student who wishes to pursue a new qualification must submit an application for admission to the University of Limpopo using the UL online application tool.

Step 2: There is a handling charge of R200 for South African applicants and R750 for international applicants when submitting an online application.

*Please note that you must satisfy or surpass the entrance requirements outlined in the prospectus.

Only those with a Bachelor’s degree are eligible to apply for admission.

1.1 Bachelor’s degree exemption on the National Senior Certificate (NSC)

Students with an NSC who desire to enroll in any undergraduate degree at the University of Limpopo must meet the following requirements:

  • Life Orientation with a minimum degree of achievement of three (3).
  • English as a language of learning and teaching with a proficiency level of at least three is in accordance with the university’s language policy (3).
    Minimum levels of achievement in various subjects, as specified in each Faculty’s Calendars, given that:
  • For degree programs, four 20-credit subjects were completed with a minimum NSC achievement level of four (4).
  • For diploma programs, four 20-credit subjects were completed with a minimum NSC achievement level of three (3).
  • The needed Admission Point Score (APS) as specified in each Faculty’s Calendar.
  • Meeting the APS requirements for a certain job.

Certificate of Matriculation (prior 2008)

By changing their grade symbols to an APS, students who successfully finished Grade 12 before 2008 can apply for admission to the University with the standard Grade 12 Senior Certificate and full university exemption.
National Certificate 1.3 (Vocational)

Students who have achieved a National Certificate Vocational NC(V) Level 4 certificate will need the following items, as well as Faculty Admission Specifications and Placement Tests:
For degree programs, NC(V) level 4 certificate with 3 essential subjects at 60% (Life Orientation included) and 4 suitable vocational subjects at 70%.

The Admission Point Score (APS) system is a method of determining whether or not a student is admitted

The method is a simple computation that can be done by any prospective student using their NSC or Grade 12 university exemption results to see if they match the minimum requirements for admittance into:

A Faculty within the University that offers a certain program of choice.
However, meeting the minimum APS for a program does not ensure acceptance.

The computation is done by adding the achievement levels in six (6) recognized 20 credit subjects as specified by the Faculties’ specific requirements. The following are the achievement levels (Note: Life Orientation is not utilized in the APS calculation).

2. Qualifications other than the NSC

Prospective students should get verification of the qualification from Higher Education South Africa (HESA). More information can be obtained from www.hesa.org.za. Prospective students with matriculation qualifications from outside the borders of South Africa, can also contact the International Office on +27 (0) 15 268 3046.

Test of Positioning

Prospective students will take National Benchmarking Tests at the University of Limpopo. The test’s results will be used for student profiling research and the provision of relevant support.

4. Curriculum Extension Programs (ECP)

The University’s extended curriculum programs are related to the relevant approved standard undergraduate degree programs, but give students an extra year to complete the learning objectives. The results of the Placement Tests are especially important in gaining admission to these programs.
