ONLINE APPLICATION FOR UMP PROCESS IN STEP BY STEP DETAILS gives detailed instructions for submitting an online application to the University of Mpumalanga (UMP).

These steps are intended to assist you in navigating the application process so that it does not become a frightening or burdensome undertaking.

We have provided further material below to assist you with your application process before you apply.

NB: Before you start with your application, ensure that you have electronic copies to upload (the accepted document types/format are: pdf,doc,docx,tiff,PNG,jpg, jpeg): 

Application fee

  • proof of non-refundable application cost (RSA/SADC applicants R150, other African nations R350, and non-African countries R500).

Documents to Upload

  • certified copies of your identity document, Senior Certificate/National Senior Certificate and all other relevant documents.

The application procedure is as follows:

Step 1: Go to the UMP website’s home page and click on the student portal link.

Step 2: Select “New Application” from the drop-down menu.

Step 3: Fill up your biographical information and save it to get your reference/student number and pin code, which you’ll need to complete your application.

Step 4: Enter your student identification number or reference number.

Step 5: To continue with your application, click on applications.

Step 6: After reviewing the application rules, click “I accept” to proceed.

Stage 7: To move on to the next step, click “next step.”

Step 8: Upload your scanned documents, such as your certified ID, test results, and payment evidence (R150). The banking information can be found in step 1 of the application rules.

Step 9: Select “Upload Document” from the drop-down menu.

Step 10: From the source file, select your scanned document and save it. Close the window and proceed to the next stage by clicking the next button.

Step 11: To select a subject, click the grey radio option on the right of each block.

Stage 12: To move on to the next step, click “next step.”

Step 13: From the grey radio button, select the school.

Stage 14: Fill out this form, save it, and move on to the next step if you were already enrolled at another college.

Step 15: After filling in the program you want to enroll in, click the search button.

Step 17: Pick a time frame for your studies, such as the first year. Preference for type acedemic (for example, 1 indicates first choice, 2 indicates second option, and so on). Continue to the following stage after saving your work.

Stage 18: Double-check that your biographical information is correct and that all of your documents have been loaded onto the certificate, then save and go to the next stage.

Step 19: Select Communication Type from the drop-down menu if you want to change your communication information.

Step 20: View the programmes you have applied for.

Step 21: View your application status.

Step 22: View if you have gone through all the processes.

End of online application, outcome for application takes up to 4 to 6 weeks after closing date.
